North Quincy High School is a public high school in North Quincy, MA, enrolling approximately 1,400 students in grades 9 through 12. The school opened in 1926 as North Junior High and gradually added upper grades, graduating its first senior class in 1934. North Quincy High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC.)

North Quincy High School is located at 316 Hancock Street in Quincy, MA, near the North Quincy MBTA station.

The NQHS learning community values increasing knowledge, building character, and encouraging service in order to graduate students who demonstrate 21st-century skills and contribute to the global society. We expect that each NQHS graduate will: think critically; communicate effectively; collaborate successfully; utilize technology; embrace responsibility; and demonstrate respect.

Academics

NQHS offers a rigorous academic program that includes core courses in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and world languages. Advanced Placement opportunities are available in each core academic subject. We also offer a variety of elective courses, including art, music, theater, business, engineering, carpentry, visual design and communication, broadcasting, and computer applications. Courses are also available in the Air Force Junior ROTC program as well as the Early College High School Pathway program with Quincy College. Special Education services and an English Language Learner program are available to eligible students.

Extracurriculars

NQHS also encourages students to pursue their interests outside of the classroom through a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including a robust and competitive 3-season athletics program; clubs and organizations spanning many topics and interests; the NQHS chapter of the National Honor Society, which recognizes excellence in leadership, character, knowledge, and service; academic competition opportunities, including our annual STEM Fair and our highly competitive Quiz Show team; and exceptional visual and performing art programs.

Community Service

Community service is an important component of student life at NQHS: Quincy Public Schools requires a minimum of 30 hours of service to school and community as a graduation requirement.

Diversity at NQHS

At NQHS, we celebrate our rich diversity and our exposure to a variety of cultures and perspectives. The NQHS student body is culturally diverse with a population that is 4.7% African-American, 55% Asian, 4.3% Hispanic, .2% Native American, 32.4% White, .2% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and 3.2% Multi-Race/Non-Hispanic.
